Texas School System Closes After 2 Teachers Die Of COVID-19 In A Week

WACO, Texas (AP) — A Central Texas college district closed its colleges till after the Labor Day vacation Tuesday after two academics died final week of COVID-19.

Connally Independent School District officers closed its 5 suburban Waco colleges for the remainder of the week after the Saturday COVID-19 demise of Natalia Chansler, 41, a sixth grade social research trainer at Connally Junior High School, stated Assistant Superintendent Jill Bottelberghe.

Chansler’s demise got here days after David McCormick, 59, a seventh grade social research trainer at Connally Junior High, died of COVID-19, Bottelberghe stated.

It was not instantly recognized if both trainer was vaccinated.

Connally High School soccer coach Terry Gerik says the Cadets will play La Vega as scheduled Friday night time.

The college has had 51 confirmed COVID-19 instances since courses started Aug. 18, Bottelberghe stated Monday. She added that extra instances had been confirmed in the previous few days, however she didn’t know if any have been instantly traced again to Chansler.

“We have not found any correlation” between the 2 deaths, Bottelberghe stated. “They were at two different grade levels even though they worked under the same content area, but we have recognized that there has been an increase in spread as far as throughout our student body at those two grade levels.”
