Florida bride and caterer charged with lacing wedding food with cannabis – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

(CNN) — A Florida bride and her wedding caterer have been arrested and accused of lacing wedding food, together with lasagna, with marijuana and inflicting a number of friends to develop into sick, based on their arrest warrant affidavits.

Bride Danya Shea Svoboda, 42, and caterer Joycelyn Montrinice Bryant, 31, have been charged with culpable negligence, supply of marijuana and violating Florida’s Anti-Tampering Act, the affidavits say.

CNN has not been capable of attain Svoboda and Bryant or decide if they’ve attorneys.

One affidavit alleges Svoboda “agreed to and allowed Joycelyn Montrinice Bryant to lace the food she served … with cannabis unbeknownst to the attendees, many of whom became very ill and required medical attention.”

When Seminole County deputies arrived at a group clubhouse in Longwood, Florida, on February 19, a number of wedding friends have been being handled by county Fire Rescue personnel for “symptoms consistent with that of someone who has used illegal drugs,” based on each affidavits.

When a deputy requested Danya and her husband, Andrew Svoboda, if that they had requested or consented to the food containing cannabis, Andrew “stared at (the deputy) with a clean expression for just a few moments earlier than stuttering by a ‘no,’” the affidavits state.

Deputies collected food and glassware from the wedding venue that had been used by guests, including a beer glass, lasagna and desserts, the affidavits say. The lasagna later tested positive for THC, according to the documents.

Lab tests showed at least 3 guests with positive results

Some guests reported feeling “stoned” and “ill and high,” the affidavits say, while another said he felt “weird, tingly, fidgety, and had an extremely dry mouth” after eating food at the wedding.

According to the affidavits, one woman who attended the wedding told an investigator that while she was at the hospital, she felt paranoid and “believed her husband … wasn’t telling her the reality about different relations,” and that her son-in-law had died and nobody was telling her. She mentioned she turned loud and unruly within the emergency room and needed to be given remedy to relax.

Lab assessments confirmed three wedding friends had urine assessments that have been optimistic for cannabis, based on the affidavits.

One visitor advised investigators that after she realized she was excessive, she requested Svoboda if “she had put marijuana in the olive oil,” the affidavits say. The visitor advised a deputy Svoboda answered “yes” and “acted excited,” based on the paperwork.

However, one other visitor mentioned when she texted Svoboda from the hospital asking her what was taking place and what she was given, the bride responded, “Uggg, we have no idea,” the affidavits say.

According to courtroom information, each Svoboda and Bryant have bonded out of Seminole County Jail and can be arraigned in June.
