San Dieguito Superintendent on administrative leave

SAN DIEGO — The San Dieguito Union High School District’s has named an interim superintendent to steer the district after Dr. Cheryl James-Ward was positioned on administrative leave following controversial feedback she made about Asian college students’ educational success. 

Tina Douglas, affiliate superintendent of the SDUHSD is ready to steer the varsity district as interim superintendent after a unanimous vote by the varsity board.

Douglas’ appointment is efficient instantly.

Before ending the meeting, SDUHD School Board President, Maureen Muir assured dad and mom and college students of Douglas’ work for the district and dedication for college students.

“She has more passion for this district than anyone I’ve ever met,” stated Muir. “She regards your entire youngsters as her youngsters.”

Ward has been the superintendent since November. On Friday, the SDUHSD held a particular board meeting to listen to from college students, dad and mom and neighborhood members. 

On Wednesday, college students and fogeys participated in three hours of public remark at a San Dieguito board meeting. The board voted 3-1 to place her on administrative leave.

The actions from the varsity board come after Ward made feedback made at a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion coaching.
