Six of the most spectacular younger individuals in the space competed to be San Antonio’s “Youth of the Year” in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s nationwide competitors for 2021.
On March 3, every of the finalists’ tales had been advised and the winner was introduced at the nonprofit’s fourth-annual Youth of the Year UnGala virtual event, hosted by KSAT anchor Ursula Pari.
Lauren, a sophomore at KIPP University Prep, was named the winner of this year’s event.
“The Youth of the Year award recognizes exemplary teens who have made significant contributions to their family, school, community, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio,” organizers mentioned. “During this special event, six Youth of the Year finalists, ages 16-18, present their personal stories of triumph in the face of adversity for a chance to win college scholarships and advance to the state competition in March.”
The Youth of the Year program is taken into account to be the pinnacle of all Boys & Girls Clubs packages. The competitors is described as a fruits of months of workshops and one-on-one coaching on essay writing and public talking.
The winner of the San Antonio competitors obtained a scholarship and superior to the state competitors, with an opportunity to advance to the regional and nationwide competitions. Each step of the journey gives the winners with scholarships and prizes.
